Remotype Terms of Use

The short version

• Keyboard and trackpad are free, forever. No trial, no clock, no card.
• The 14-day trial is one per device and cannot be restarted by reinstalling.
• A paid license is tied to the app-store account that bought it and is not transferable to another person or account.
• The Eternal License is a one-time purchase: the current major version of Remotype is yours forever, it receives bug fixes and support for two years from that version's release, and the next major version is offered to you at a discount.

What is free

Typing and pointing — the keyboard, the trackpad, and the combined layout — are free on every device, indefinitely. The Remotype Host apps for macOS and Windows are free to download and use. Nothing in these terms takes that away.

The 14-day trial

When you first activate Remotype you may start a 14-day trial of every premium feature. No card and no account are required. The trial is activated once per device: the app asks our activation server for a start date, the server records it against an anonymous identifier derived from your device, and it hands back a signed answer. That is the only moment Remotype needs the internet; everything after works offline.

• The trial is bound to the device it was activated on and cannot be transferred to another device.
• Deleting and reinstalling the app does not restart the trial — the server remembers the original start date.
• When the 14 days end, premium features remain available for 30 minutes per month, refilled on the first of each month. Keyboard and trackpad stay free.
• If you did not start the trial at first run, you can start it later from Settings → Plan.

The activation server stores only a salted hash of the device identifier and the start date — no name, no email, no account. See the Privacy Policy.

Paid licenses

Premium features are unlocked by an in-app purchase made through Apple's App Store or Google Play. Custavia never sees your payment details. The purchase is tied to the app-store account you bought it with, under that store's rules:

• A license is personal. It is not transferable to another person or to a different App Store or Google Play account.
• Your license covers Remotype on devices signed in to the purchasing store account, using the store's Restore Purchases. It does not carry across stores (an App Store purchase does not unlock the Play version, or the reverse).
• We cannot move a purchase between accounts, platforms, or people. Genuine edge cases (for example a store account you can no longer access) are handled only through support, at our discretion: support.remotype@custavia.com.

Subscriptions

Monthly and annual plans renew automatically until cancelled. You cancel, and manage billing, in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings — not in the app and not by emailing us. Cancelling stops the next renewal; access continues to the end of the paid period. Refunds are handled by the store under its own policy.

The Eternal License

The Eternal License is a one-time purchase with no recurring charge. It was previously sold under the name Lifetime; it is the same product and the same store item, and everything below applies equally to a purchase made under either name.

It covers three things:

• A perpetual license to the current major version of Remotype — today, version 1. Every 1.x update is included, for as long as the app exists, with no renewal and no expiry. One purchase covers the Android and iOS apps on the purchasing store account, and the Remotype Host apps are free regardless.
• Bug fixes and support for two years from the day that major version was publicly released. During that window we fix defects in the version you own and answer support mail about it. This is a floor, not a ceiling — we expect to keep fixing 1.x well past it, but two years is what we commit to.
• A discounted upgrade to the next major version. If a version 2 or later is released as a separate purchase, Eternal License owners are offered it at a reduced price. We do not name that price here because that version does not exist yet.

What it is not: a promise of every future major version at no cost, and not a support contract with a guaranteed response time. If you take no upgrade, the version you licensed keeps working — we will not switch it off, and nothing in these terms lets us take away a license you already paid for.

Like every license, the Eternal License is tied to the purchasing store account and is not transferable.

Fair use

Use Remotype only to control computers you own or are authorized to control. Do not attempt to bypass the trial, the license checks, or the activation server, and do not redistribute the apps. We may end access for accounts that abuse the service.

No warranty, limited liability

Remotype is provided as is. We work hard to make it reliable, but we cannot promise it will work with every computer, network, or configuration, or that it will be free of interruptions or errors. To the extent the law allows, Custavia is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of Remotype, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Changes

If these terms change, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date. Changes never take away a license you already paid for.
